about mac market
Mac Market is a community-driven and collaborative eating, drinking, and gathering place that opened in late 2019. From its inception, the mission has been to support the vibrancy of our region’s food and drink landscape by amplifying its farmers, craftspeople, and creatives.
A little history
In 2016, Diana Riggs and Todd Severson uprooted their life in Seattle to live on the road in an old Airstream camper. The mission was adventure but the ultimate goal was to find a new hometown to settle in for the long run. After exploring much of the west, they kept coming back to McMinnville. They fell in love with the beauty, location, and most of all community.
A spirited entrepreneur, Diana is always looking for opportunities to create and cultivate gathering. Upon her first tour of the historic Huberd Shoe Grease building, she was struck by all the possibilities the space could offer. With the guidance and support of the community, a massive amount of grit, and a steady flow of blind ambition, Mac Market—a place to taste—was born.
As for the Airstream, it drove its last mile into Mac Market to permanently rest. It’s now the proud home of Sustainable Rituals, a bulk refill, botanicals and gift shop run by Haley Queen.
Alpine Avenue
Stretching from NE 5th to NE 14th Streets, Alpine Avenue is a developing Urban Renewal zone. On the south end, the popular Granary District is home to wineries, a brewery and roastery, retail shopping and more. Continue to head north up Alpine from there, and you might see grapes unloading at The Eyrie Vineyards & Remy Wines, or stop to have a beer at Heater Allen Brewery. Peak in to Basile’s Workshop and see Jon’s fine woodworking in action, or witness the art of sign painting by Colt Bowden’s of Gold Hand Signs. As you approach Mac Market, just after passing a vintage vacation cottage, the drool-worthy smells of Blue Raeven Pie fill the air. While the future holds many more possibilities for this neighborhood, the current residents are shaping it into a vibrant community of craftspeople.
